Why are the whites of my nails sometimes see through after I take a shower?

Sometimes, especially recently, the whites of my fingernails (tips) have turned seethrough after I take a shower! They've been like that the last few days. I've had this problem before but I don't know what it could be. My nails are otherwise healthy and kind of long and theyre pretty strong. They aren't flimsy. So why is it that sometimes I can see through the whites????? Is there anyway to fix it??
