Will a copper nail driven into a tree kill the tree?

nope. i heard plants and trees can respond to touch, which makes sense because if there is a rock in the way they have to grow around it to get to sun... anyways after long enough the tree will continue to grow over the nail, and it will become part of the tree forever. google image search 'bike in tree' or 'sign in tree'
